Management Committee Member - Voluntary

We are seeking innovative and visionary individuals to join our Management Committee, you will play a pivotal role in fostering strategic partnerships and advancing key initiatives to support the growth of the organisation. This role requires a proactive individual who is dedicated to making a meaningful impact in the non-profit sector.

Botany Family & Children’s Centre (BFCC) is a registered charity, incorporated as a not-for-profit organisation, dedicated to supporting children and families within the Bayside and Randwick Local Government Areas (LGAs) for the past 46 years. BFCC is a Child Safe Organisation.

Our vision is to create a safe, connected community for children and families. To bring this vision to life, we collaborate with our community and partners to deliver evidence-based early intervention and prevention services that prioritize the safety and well-being of children and families. Through our commitment to providing accessible, quality services, BFCC continues to make a meaningful impact, and we are excited to embark on a new year filled with innovative initiatives and growth opportunities.

We are seeking a dedicated Committee member to join our experienced and passionate Management Committee, contributing to the continued positive impact we have in our community. The Management Committee, consisting of eight members, provides essential governance, strategic direction, and leadership to guide the organisations success.

About the role

BFCC is looking for a committed Management Committee member to bring their expertise and experience to enhance our leadership and governance. In partnership with fellow committee members, you will play a key role in guiding and supporting our Mission and Vision, ensuring the Centre’s continued success and growth.

We are seeking candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Risk and compliance management
  • A strong understanding of or demonstrated interest in the non-profit and community sectors
  • Experience in governance within a not-for-profit organization (highly desirable)
  • Organisational development and strategic growth
  • Community engagement and stakeholder relations
  • Information technology and digital systems
  • Fundraising and resource development
  • Human resources management and organisational culture
  • Financial management and budgeting

Management Committee members are responsible for ensuring the organisation meets its contractual obligations, achieves its targeted outcomes, complies with legal requirements, and maintains financial solvency.

As a voluntary body, BFCC’s Management Committee plays a critical role in the organisation’s success. Members are expected to review board materials in advance of meetings and come prepared to actively contribute to discussions.

Your time commitment

The Management Committee convenes on the second Thursday of each month at 4:00 PM. The role of a Committee member requires a minimum time commitment of 6-8 hours per month, which includes meeting preparation and attendance. In addition, participation in Board projects and special meetings, as required, is expected. Meetins are conducted on line via Microsoft Teams.

Essential Requirements

Successful applicants for the position will require a Working with Children & National Police Check.
