About the Role

The Tasmanian Assessment, Standards and Certification Board (TASC), Teachers Registration Board (TRB), the Non-government Schools Registration Board (NGSRB) and the Office of the Education Registrar (OER) provide critical regulatory oversight and support to education in Tasmania.

From 1 July 2025, the same chair and members will be appointed by the Minister for Education to undertake the regulatory functions of TASC, TRB and the NGSRB. 

The Boards may establish one or more committees to advise and assist the with the performance and exercise of its functions and powers under their respective Act or any other Act.

Board members are expected to attend and actively participate in Board and relevant committee meetings. Members are also expected to participate in corporate and strategic planning and other out-of-session activities and decisions.

About the Appointment

  • Commencing 1 July 2025 for a period of up to three (3) years.
  • Total remuneration of either $42,969 (Chair) or $25,189 (member) per annum

About You

Successful applicants will bring significant expertise in one or more of:

  • experience with best practice regulatory decision making,
  • demonstrated strong understanding of the Tasmanian Education context and sectors. 
  • significant skills and expertise in no more than two of the skills or expertise listed (refer to the information pack)

Members appointed to the Board must hold a current registration under the Registration to Work with Vulnerable People Act 2013 (Registration Status – Employment).  The cost associated with obtaining this registration is the responsibility of the individual.
