About DCLC:
For over 25 years, the Dandenong Community and Learning Centre (DCLC) has been at the heart of Dandenong's vibrant and multicultural community. As a not-for-profit organisation, we are committed to fostering social cohesion and offering a range of programs focused on education, community building, and skill development. DCLC plays a crucial role in supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds, helping them access opportunities for further education, employment, and social engagement.
Your Role:
We are seeking a dedicated Treasurer to join our dynamic Board of Directors. As a volunteer General Board Member, you will have the opportunity to contribute to DCLC’s mission and ensure our organisation continues to thrive and serve the community effectively. Your financial oversight and strategic guidance will play a key role in helping us achieve our objectives and ensure DCLC’s long-term sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide financial oversight and ensure the fiscal health of the organisation.
- Report on the financial status of DCLC at monthly Board meetings, helping to make informed decisions on budgeting and funding.
- Participate actively in monthly Board meetings, offering insights and contributing to discussions on organisational strategy.
- Collaborate closely with other Board members, staff, and stakeholders to support DCLC’s mission.
- Assist with financial planning, forecasting, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Promote transparency and accountability in all financial matters.
- Work with the centre manager and finance officer to ensure systems, process are in place and controls are effective.
Relevant Experience/Qualifications:
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Relevant finance qualification.
- Prior experience in a Board or financial role is desirable but not required.
- Knowledge of the non-profit sector, fundraising, advocacy, and special needs is a plus.
- Specialisation in governance, business/organisational development, or finance will be highly valued.
- Willingness to commit time and effort to attend monthly Board meetings and fulfill other responsibilities.
