Lead, Inspire, and Shape the Future of Early Childhood Education

Community Kinders Plus (CKP) is a place-based, not-for-profit early childhood management organisation, providing professional leadership and centralised management of kindergarten services across the Mornington Peninsula Shire, City of Kingston, and City of Frankston. CKP is committed to ensuring high-quality early childhood learning and development for children and families.

We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate Non-Executive Director to join our Board. This voluntary role offers an opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction and governance of a highly respected not-for-profit organisation that makes a real difference in the lives of children and communities.

Key Responsibilities

As a CKP Board Director, you will:

  • Oversee CKP’s strategic direction, governance, and risk management.
  • Ensure compliance with legislative and policy requirements.
  • Support financial sustainability and operational excellence.
  • Provide guidance in areas such as business strategy, finance, risk, and compliance.
  • Advocate for high-quality early childhood education and uphold CKP’s purpose.

Skills & Experience

We are particularly seeking candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Early childhood education
  • Business and financial acumen
  • Risk management and compliance
  • Not-for-profit experience
  • Experience in a social services agency
  • Local government
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving
  • Strong financial acumen

Commitment

This is a voluntary position, requiring attendance at:

  • Bi-monthly Board meetings (Frankston or local kindergarten)
  • Occasional teleconferences as needed
  • An annual CKP Strategic Conference (1-2 days)
  • The Annual General Meeting (held in May)
  • Average 4-6 hours commitment per month
