About Open Door Youth Housing
Open Door Youth Housing is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting young people aged 16-25 at risk of homelessness. We provide specialised case management, access to safe, stable accommodation and support services to empower young people towards independence. As a registered charity, we work in partnership with government, community organisations, and businesses to drive innovative solutions in youth housing.
Board Member Opportunity
We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our Board and help shape the future of youth housing and homelessness services in Sydney. This is a voluntary role, offering a unique opportunity to contribute strategic guidance, governance oversight, and expertise to a well-established and values-driven organisation.
Key Responsibilities
As a Board Member, you will:
- Contribute to governance, strategy, and policy development in alignment with our mission.
- Attend and actively participate in fortnightly Board meetings (held online).
- Provide oversight and support for the organisation’s financial sustainability, risk management, and compliance.
- Represent Open Door Youth Housing in advocacy and stakeholder engagement initiatives.
- Support fundraising efforts and strategic partnerships to enhance service delivery.
Who We’re Looking For
We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds and encourage individuals with expertise in the following areas to apply:
- Governance & Not-for-Profit Leadership – Experience in board governance, policy, and strategic planning.
- Finance & Risk Management – Understanding of financial oversight, compliance, and risk management in the NFP sector.
- Housing & Real Estate – Knowledge of social housing, affordable housing, transitional housing, tenancy, or property management.
- Community & Youth Services – Experience in social services, mental health, or youth support.
- Fundraising & Marketing – Skills in fundraising, corporate partnerships, grant writing, or marketing.
While board experience is beneficial, we also welcome applications from emerging leaders who are passionate about social impact.
Commitment & Benefits
