Shoalcoast Community Legal Centre is a not-for-profit, community managed free legalservice established in 1999. It is funded by Commonwealth and State Governments via theCommunity Legal Centre Program administered by the Legal Aid Commission of NSW.Our mission is to provide free, easily accessible and professional legal services that supportvulnerable members of our communities when they need it most.
Shoalcoast Community Legal Centre covers 5 Local Government Areas - Shoalhaven, Eurobodalla, Bega Valley, Snowy Monaro and Queanbeyan/Palerang.
We are calling for expressions of interest for people to join our Management Committee who live in the following Local Government Areas - Eurobodalla, Snowy Monaro and Queanbeyan/Palerang.
Information about the Management Committee are as follows:-
- Meetings are planed to be held bi-monthly on the first Wednesday of the month at 5:30pm on MS Teams
- Reporting is sent monthly to the Management Committee by Centre Management prior to each meeting for review
- Meeting duration time is normally 1 to 1.5 hours maximum
- Positions on the committee – President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and minimum of 4 general committee members and 3 staff members
- Term of appointment is for one year – from October each year. Our last AGM was on 23 October 2024
- Joining fee of $1 and Membership fee of $ 1 per year is payable
- The Committee positions are voluntary and Committee members are not paid
- The Management Committee is responsible and accountable for the Governance, Strategic Direction and Financial status and well-being of the Centre
- Training available for new committee members on Governance responsibilities and practices
