We Are W/m is seeking passionate and skilled individuals to join our Board of Directors. As a newly established nonprofit, our mission is to empower people through evidence-based, trauma-informed education on sexual health, consent, and healthy relationships.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape the foundation of an organisation dedicated to creating a safer, more equitable world. As a board member, you will play a crucial role in building We Are W/M  from the ground up, helping establish its governance, financial sustainability, and strategic direction. 

About the Role

As a founding board member, you will:

  • Contribute to the development of the organisation’s governance framework.
  • Help establish financial systems, reporting processes, and compliance structures.
  • Advocate for We Are W/M and expand its network.
  • Support revenue generation efforts through grants, sponsorships, and partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend and actively participate in quarterly board meetings.
  • Provide strategic oversight and ensure good governance.
  • Support the establishment of financial sustainability and revenue growth.
  • Help develop and oversee policies, risk management, and compliance.
  • Serve as an advocate for the organisation’s mission, purpose, and programs

Key Skills and Attributes

We are looking for individuals with expertise in the following areas to complement our co-founders’ strengths and ensure a well-rounded board:

  1. Finance/Accounting (Treasurer)
    • Experience in financial management, auditing, or accounting to develop financial systems from the ground up.
    • Ability to oversee budgets, financial reporting, and compliance.
    • Develop and monitor financial models to ensure financial sustainability.
  2. Business Development/Fundraising
    • Strong business acumen with experience in securing funding from grants, donors, and sponsors.
    • Established networks in the corporate, government, or nonprofit sectors.
    • Strategic thinker who can identify and pursue growth opportunities
  3. Health Research and Program Development
    • Background in health research, public health, or program evaluation
    • Experience with evidence-based and trauma-informed practices
    • Commitment to addressing health inequities and supporting marginalised communities
  4. Communications and Marketing
    • Expertise in crafting and executing communications strategies
    • Experience in media relations, social media, and marketing
    • Ability to amplify the organisation’s message and reach diverse audiences.
  5. Governance and Legal Compliance (Secretary)
    • Knowledge of nonprofit governance and legal requirements
    • Experience in risk management and policy development.
  6. General Board Members
    • Bring diverse perspectives and contribute to strategic discussions.
    • Support various board initiatives (legal, HR, risk management).

    Commitment
