DANII Meads-Barlow Foundation

The DANII Meads-Barlow Foundation is dedicated to providing critical support, education, and advocacy for individuals and families affected by Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). We are seeking skilled and passionate Volunteer Board Members to bring their expertise to our Foundation’s mission, with a particular focus on accounting and legal services.

The Opportunity

The Board of the DANII Meads-Barlow Foundation is looking for volunteer professionals to fill two key roles: Accountant and Lawyer. Both positions are essential for ensuring the Foundation’s financial and legal affairs are managed with the utmost integrity, transparency, and compliance. As a member of the Board, you will work alongside a committed group of individuals, playing a pivotal role in the governance and strategic direction of the Foundation.

Volunteer Accountant

We are looking for a Volunteer Accountant to join our Board with expertise in:

• Financial Management & Reporting
• Budgeting & Forecasting
• Taxation & Compliance
• Financial Strategy
• Audit and Risk Management

Volunteer Lawyer

We are also seeking a Volunteer Lawyer with expertise in:

• Corporate Governance & Compliance
• Contract Law
• Intellectual Property
• Risk & Liability Management
• Legal Advice for Non-Profit Organizations

Responsibilities

Board members will be expected to:

• Attend quarterly Board meetings (in-person or remotely) and actively participate in discussions and decision-making.
• Stay informed about Board matters, be prepared for meetings, and contribute to the governance of the Foundation.
• Use your specialist expertise to support the Foundation’s financial and legal matters, providing advice on strategic decisions, compliance, and risk management.
• Assist in reviewing and improving the Foundation's financial processes and legal framework to ensure strong governance.
• Leverage your professional networks to help the Foundation grow, attract funding, and advocate for the needs of individuals living with Type 1 Diabetes.
• Support the Foundation’s fundraising efforts, community education initiatives, and strategic planning.

Selection Criteria

Ideal candidates will have:

• Professional qualifications in accounting or law (e.g., CPA, CA, or LLB) with significant experience in your respective field.
• A passion for the mission of the DANII Meads-Barlow Foundation and a genuine interest in supporting individuals with Type 1 Diabetes.
• Experience in non-profit governance, or working with charities, is highly desirable.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with other Board members and stakeholders.
• A commitment to the Foundation’s values and the impact it seeks to achieve.
