About SAHSSI: SAHSSI is a leading not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing safe, supported accommodation, domestic violence and homelessness services across the Shoalhaven and Illawarra regions. Our mission is to empower women and children impacted by domestic violence by offering essential housing and specialist domestic violence support services, advocacy, and long-term solutions to break the cycle of domestic violence and homelessness.
The Opportunity: We are seeking a passionate and experienced individual to join our Board of Directors. This is a unique opportunity to contribute your expertise to an organisation making a tangible difference in the community. As a Board Member, you will play a pivotal role in guiding SAHSSI’s strategic direction, using a feminist lens, to expand our impact in the housing and support services sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Oversight: Provide strategic direction and governance to support SAHSSI’s mission and long-term goals.
- Financial Stewardship: Oversee financial planning, and resource allocation to ensure the organisation’s financial health and growth.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements, while proactively managing risks to the organisation.
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience: Previous board experience is highly valued.
- Expertise: Professional expertise in one of the following areas:
- Housing (planning, designing, construction or development);
- Finance; or
- Information technology.
- Passion: A deep commitment to social justice and improving the lives of vulnerable individuals and families in our community.
- Leadership: Proven leadership skills with the ability to lead within a feminist framework and collaborate effectively and contribute to a high-functioning board environment.
