About our organisation

The Werribee River Association Inc. (WRA), established in 1981, is a not-for-profit waterway protector with a mission to work with the community to improve and protect the natural environment.

The history of the organisation is rooted in advocacy and volunteerism for the environment and human health. In recent years, the organisation has grown substantially, now with part-time staff, 400+ volunteers.

We are currently seeking expressions of interest from motivated and committed people with various skill sets and a desire to collaborate to join a great Board of Management to guide our organisation into our next chapter.

WRA’s current strategic directions are:

Community - Develop ways in which the community can contribute to the care and protection of the River Catchment and waterways

Education - Champion environmental education and awareness about waterways including threats to their well-being and seek opportunities for enhanced protection

Organisation - Professionalise the Werribee River Association

Partnerships - Build on and develop new strategic partnerships which assist the river & waterways

Science - Ensure we use sound science in the strategies we pursue, activities we participate in, and our engagement with others
