Maroba is a dynamic Christ-focused organisation providing an exciting range of accommodation, care, and services to people within our community. Based in Waratah (Newcastle), accommodation choices range from independent living at our Maroba Terrace units through to full care (including dementia, Alzheimer’s and palliative care) at both Maroba Lodge and Maroba Manor. 

We are seeking Non-Executive Directors on a voluntary basis. You will play a critical role alongside the other Board members and the CEO in the strategic leadership and oversight of Maroba. This is a unique opportunity to play a key leadership role with an organisation that is passionate about enriching the lives of people.

The Board is calling for expressions of interest from individuals who feel they can bring either clinical experience, finance, people, aged care or governance experience and diversity to the organisation. We seek strong value-based, community-minded strategic leaders whose skills will complement those of existing Board members and the CEO.

A fundamental requirement of this position is that successful candidates are personally committed to the Christian faith and align to the Mission and Constitution of Maroba.

Skills and Experience which will be held in high regard include:

  • Strategic Expertise – the ability to review strategy through constructive questioning
  • Risk Management – experience in identifying and managing areas of major risk
  • Contemporary Governance – demonstrated ability to balance the interests of Maroba’s many and varied stakeholders
  • Innovative Thinking – the ability to identify and be open to new ideas
  • Values – alignment to Christian values and Maroba’s mission and vision

For our Clinical position we are seeking Board members who have: 

  • Contemporary knowledge of the ageing process and recognition of common geriatric health issues
  • Keen observation and critical thinking skills with an understanding of geriatric health assessment tools
  • Ability to provide strategic advice and direction to the Board in relation to the direction and management of clinical governance for the organisation
  • Ability to inform and brief Board members on current clinical risk issues
  • Demonstrable experience as a senior Medical Practitioner, Registered Nurse, or Nurse Practitioner
