Prosper (Project Australia) is a rapidly growing community organisation supporting disadvantaged children and their families; at home, at school and in the community. Prosper delivers a variety of programs including; emergency relief, family violence prevention, parenting groups,  playgroups, events and community development.

We have a wonderful group of board members and are now looking to add an additional board
member to the team. All applications are welcome, however we are specifically prioritising applicants who have expertise in one or more of the following areas; finance, fundraising, governance, legal, advocacy, risk management, compliance or communications and who have an interest in community issues and is ready for a new challenge. 


All board members are responsible for the governance and oversight of the organisation. This includes governing its finances, its operations and managing staff and volunteers.

Duties
Attend board meetings.
Contribute to providing governance and other relevant support to the team.
Consider, debate, and vote on issues before the Board on the basis of the best interests of
the organisation only.
Review and approve the organisation’s Strategic Plan, and other consequential
arrangements.
Where Board papers are circulated in advance of the Board meeting, read papers and
consider issues before the meeting.
Contribute to the discussion and resolution of issues at meetings and otherwise as
appropriate.
Review and approve the organisation’s systems for financial control and risk management.
Carry out special assignments as requested by the Chair.
Declare all conflicts of interest.
Provide oversight for the finances of the organisation.
Contribute subject matter expertise.
Review financial information relating to the organisation.
Participate enthusiastically in any fundraising approved by the Board.
Adhere to organisational policies.
Promote the organisation within the community as opportunities arise.
Support the financial sustainability of the organisation.

You will have plenty of support and opportunity to develop new skills as you contribute to the important work we do.

Prosper's board is stable and low-maintenance. This role will require a commitment of no more than 5 - 10 hours every 3 months, and you will be joining a friendly and experienced team.
