Are you passionate about promoting women's health and well-being? Do you have the expertise and commitment to contribute to the governance of a leading not-for-profit organisation? Illawarra Women’s Health Centre seeks a resolute Non-Executive Director to join our board.

About Us:

Illawarra Women’s Health Centre provides free or low-cost medical, allied, and complementary health care to women in the Illawarra region. We are committed to empowering women and promoting gender equality through comprehensive health services, community engagement, and advocacy.

The Role:

As a Non-Executive Director, you will play a crucial role in our organisation's governance and strategic oversight. You will bring independent judgment, expertise, and a passion for women's health to help us achieve our mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic oversight and ensure the organisation remains focused on its mission.
  • Oversee financial performance and ensure robust financial management.
  • Identify and manage risks, ensuring appropriate mitigation strategies are in place.
  • Act as an ambassador for the organisation, promoting its services and advocating for women's health issues.
  • Promote our Centre and the support available to women by raising social awareness through fundraising, marketing, or business development.
  • Work collaboratively with other board members and the executive team.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Proven experience in a governance role or as a board member or senior executive.
  • Strong understanding of the not-for-profit sector and/or women's health issues.
  • Expertise in business administration, healthcare, finance, law, fundraising, community development, and/or public policy.
  • Commitment to promoting gender equality and women's health.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and contribute to high-level decision-making.
  • Able to attend face-to-face meetings in our office monthly.
  • Female: Being female is considered a genuine occupational qualification as per
    Section 31 of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act 1977
