ABOUT YARRANLEA
Yarranlea Limited is an independent, ACNC-registered operator of a student-focused primary school and outside school hours care facility that tailors the Australian National Curriculum to provide personalised learning from its leafy Toohey Forest bush location at Holland Park West in Queensland.
Yarranlea facilitates excellent educational outcomes relative to the unique skills and abilities of each student, and actively encourages learning partnerships between students, their families and teachers. Yarranlea has built a diverse community that enables students to both believe in themselves and achieve their potential.
THE ROLE
Yarranlea’s board manages all governance matters, occasionally using ad-hoc committees when required. A competent and engaged management team attends regular board meetings and workshops as required. The Board meets each month, typically between 6pm-9pm. Half-day workshops covering relevant focus areas such as strategy, risk, policy and budgeting are typically held once a quarter. Most meetings are held at the school, although online meetings are also held from time to time. The board operates in a professional, relaxed and collegiate manner.
REQUIREMENTS
The successful applicant(s) must:
- Have a reasonable understanding of the education sector, noting further knowledge can be acquired “on the job” given the expertise currently available to Yarranlea.
- Be eligible to hold a Queensland Government blue card or exemption card. Anyone working or volunteering in regulated child-related employment or operating a regulated child-related business must hold a current card before being appointed to their role.
- Have a good appreciation of corporate governance, with completion of core modules and/or membership of the Australian Institute of Company Directors being well regarded.
- Hold tertiary qualifications and demonstrated technical and leadership experience in one or more of the following disciplines: management, accounting, commerce, education, finance, information technology, law, human resources and/or marketing.
- Provide demonstrated experience of collaboratively liaising with a variety of stakeholders whilst fairly advocating for organisations like Yarranlea.
- Have demonstrated experience in (and a genuine commitment to) best practice ethics, communication and leadership behaviours.
