LoveOzYA is a national charity promoting Australian youth literature, supporting diverse representation and own voices in Australian YA. LoveOzYA centres the experiences and aspirations of Australian teen readers and aims to connect them with great Australian YA books and authors.

Mission
LoveOzYA seeks to connect more readers with Australian YA literature.

Purpose
To promote national and international awareness of Australian Young Adult books and Australian YA authors;
To encourage readers of all ages to discover and read Australian YA; and
To advocate for diversity, success and reputation of Australian YA authors and Australian youth literature in all its forms

We are seeking a volunteer Company Secretary to support our governance and administration. This is also a board director position, and the Secretary joins the rest of the LoveOzYA committee in the governance of the organisation.

Role Scope

  • Ensure LoveOzYA's compliance regulatory and governance requirements
  • Coordinate annual reporting to ACNC and ASIC
  • Maintain essential company information, records and governance documents
  • Be a primary contact for correspondence with stakeholders
  • Schedule and coordinate board meetings, and oversee the distribution of agendas, board papers and minutes
  • Coordinate actions arising from board meetings and seek updates from project owners
  • Lead the development and maintenance of LoveOzYA policies and procedures
  • Manages member access permissions for website, document storage, email, etc.

Director Duties

As a LoveOzYA Board member you will also be part of a committed and purpose-driven team leading the organisation, driving strategies and delivering programs to ensure the success of Australian YA books and authors.

About You

You are passionate about books and reading, and encouraging Australian young readers to connect with stories that reflect their diverse lives and interests. You are someone with top-notch organisational and administrative skills, a head for governance and you love to get stuck into the details. You enjoy systems and processes, keeping things ordered and helping teams to stay on track with their goals and actions. You might be from the arts, libraries or education sectors, or an unconnected industry but with a personal passion for LoveOzYA's mission. If this sounds like you we would love to hear from you.

Commencing the Role

The organisation is volunteer-run with directors dispersed across the country. We meet monthly, online, on a weekday evening. This role can be performed from anywhere in Australia. We would like to onboard this role as soon as possible, but no later than our AGM at the end of September. Please contact the Chair, Kate Eltham, to discuss the position.
