Guthrie House is a not-for-profit drug and alcohol and transitional support service for women. We are seeking 2 applicants to join our board of in the role of Non-Executive Director – General and Chairperson

POSITION DESCRIPTION

We are presently seeking a suitably qualified person to join the board of Guthrie House in the role of Non-Executive Director. We have a general position and the Chairperson position available. The Board provides guidance and oversight to the organisation and sets the strategic direction of Guthrie House to ensure it continues play a vital role in supporting some of the most vulnerable women in our society.

ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

Guthrie House is a drug and alcohol support service that provides transitional support for women involved in the criminal justice system directly from custody or recently released with their accompanying children. We place women from all over NSW and prioritise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and pregnant women. We provide both a 12-week residential support service as well as continued coordinated care via our Outreach and Aftercare programs.

Located on Gadigal Land in Sydney's Inner West, we are the only service of its kind in NSW that solely supports women involved in the criminal justice system.

Our clients are on average 60-70% First Nations women per annum. We have targeted cultural programs, cultural care plans and First Nations women on our Team and Board of Directors.

Our service is accredited through the Australian Service Excellence Standards on an Award level, and we are a trauma informed person-centered program.

Guthrie House is funded by Department of Communities and Justice - Corrective Services NSW and Specialist Homelessness Services, NSW Health, and the Department of Health.
