Any further information about this vacancy:

Sutherland Shire Environment Centre (SSEC) is an independent, not-for-profit, community organisation actively involved in a wide range of projects aimed at maintaining the natural beauty and character of the Sutherland Shire, surrounding bioregions, waterways and parks.

We promote sustainability, support environmental education, and welcome community involvement to help us address a diverse range of environmental issues.

For more information about our range of projects and campaigns please see our website: https://www.ssec.org.au/

Since the Centre started in 1991, it has largely been run by volunteers, including Sutherland Shire Environment Centre Board members. We are honoured to have been named “Group of the Year” in the Nature Conservation Council’s 2021 NSW Environment Awards, which recognises and celebrates the outstanding commitment and success of campaigners, grassroots environmentalists and conservation groups across the state.

We are seeking a Treasurer who has a good understanding of financial principles, budgeting, financial reporting, and accounting practices, and who will work autonomously and collaboratively with other Board members, our Public Officer, and volunteers.

If you are someone who cares for the environment, and who wants to help create positive outcomes that support and build our advocacy please apply for the role.

The Treasurer is a key Executive Board member and plays a critical role in our organisation.

The position is voluntary and involves a commitment of approximately 5 hours each week. Hours are flexible and subject to working from home arrangements.
