The overall objective of the People and Nominations Committee (Committee) is to assist the Board of Volunteering Australia (VA) in fulfilling its responsibilities in relation to people management (people within VA) and remuneration policies for VA and its nomination responsibilities for the Board. 

The People and Nominations Committee is responsible for overseeing human resources, workforce diversity, inclusion, and director recruitment at Volunteering Australia. Committee members will play a crucial role in shaping the organisation's culture, ensuring diversity and inclusion, and recruiting qualified individuals to serve on the board and in leadership positions.

Human Resources Oversight: Committee members will provide oversight of Volunteering Australia's human resources policies and practices, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. They will work closely with management to address any HR-related issues and promote a positive work environment.

Workforce Diversity and Inclusion: The committee will promote workforce diversity and inclusion initiatives, ensuring that Volunteering Australia reflects the communities it serves. Members will develop strategies to attract, retain, and develop a diverse workforce.

Director Recruitment: Committee members will oversee the recruitment and selection process for new board members, ensuring that candidates possess the skills, experience, and diversity needed to effectively govern Volunteering Australia. They will work closely with the board chair and governance committee to identify potential candidates and conduct thorough evaluations.

Ethical Leadership: Committee members will uphold ethical leadership standards, fostering a culture of integrity, transparency, and accountability throughout Volunteering Australia.

Expectations: Committee members are expected to attend quarterly meetings, actively participate in discussions, and contribute their expertise to HR and governance processes. They should also support Volunteering Australia's efforts to promote diversity and inclusion in its workforce and governance structure.

Length of Term: Committee members will serve a minimum term of one year and may extend their commitment up to five years.
