To provide adult education and community development by offering accredited and other courses within the framework of social support, by providing opportunity for people to reach their potential. The House operates as a not for profit organisation with a commitment to the principles of equity, access, participation and the rights of the individual.

 

Our vision is to be recognised as a centre of excellence in adult education, supporting the community, business and growth of the individual.

The Intent of Rushworth Community House Inc:

Centrelink Access Point for Waranga Region

 

Passport and ID photo production service

 

Design and production of calendars, books, pamphlets, etc. for individuals, businesses, community service providers and local government

 

Training in office skills for individuals and local businesses

 

Office services such as photocopying, printing and faxing

 

Internet training

 

Accredited courses, either stand-alone, or in conjunction with related service providers in nearby population centres

 

Sky tours in conjunction with the Rushworth Observatory

 

Assisting people to establish and manage special interest groups that can continue to be auspiced through the Community House

Recent Accomplishments of Rushworth Community House Inc:


    • Developing and maintaining a Volunteer Driver Transport Program that conveys frail, elderly and/or diabled people from Rushworth to medical and dental appointments in surrounding major cities and towns. This client-centred service is delivered efficiently and at low cost to users. We are currently seeking an on-going sponsor to ensure the continuity of the service

    • Expanding and enhancing services to both persons receiving unemployment benefits and people receiving a government pension

    • Fostering a community wide interest in astronomy by the introduction of both classroom sessions at the House and evening sessions at the high-tech Rushworth Astronomical Observatory

    • Providing guided access to high-speed internet facilities and encouraging people of all ages and IT skill levels to participate in this exciting new field

    • Providing specialist photographic, publishing and imaging editing services to the local community to encourage preservation and recording of local history and regional heritage

    Participation in Rushworth Community House Inc:

    The group is open for everyone to join or participate in.

    Meeting Venue:

    Rushworth Community House is open Mon-Thur 9am-4pm and Fridays 9am-1pm. The House is also open for evening classes and internet spoecial interest groups, and can be booked for use by individuals or organisations at other times.

    The venue is wheelchair accessible.

    Meeting Times:

    The Community House is open throughout the year, except between Christmas and New Year. Classes conform to local school terms, and range from gold coin donations for some activities through to advanced fee structures (including progressive payments) for some accredited courses.

     

    Membership Fees:

    Annual membership of Rushworth Community House is just five dollars. A range of fees applies to participation in some classes and activity groups.
