Brave Companion Dog Rescue Inc is a small non-profit group operating out of the Lockyer Valley Shire in south-east Queensland, based in the township of Laidley. We've operated for more than six years under the leadership of Ludelle Milne, who began the Laidley Rehousing Programme in conjunction with the then Laidley Shire Council, when she discovered how many dogs were being needlessly destroyed each year in the shire.

Through our care and rehousing of impounded and abandoned dogs we aim to send a message of responsible dog ownership to the local community.

We work as volunteers with local councils and other animal welfare groups to rehouse abandoned dogs, operating on a "no-kill" policy. Where an animal is of no danger to the community we give it a second chance of finding a loving home, and have given temporary shelter to hundreds of dogs via our network of carers.
 
All dogs are health-checked, immunised and desexed/microchipped when required. New owners are carefully vetted under strict policies of ownership and intended use of the animal. For example, we do not release dogs for hunting or security work. Owners sign an agreement to return the dogs to us for rehousing if their situation changes and they are no longer able to care for the animal.
