Expanded Community Focus
From a continued commitment of GDLG to demonstration projects, which in the past were primarily designed to tackle landcare & catchment issues, we are focusing on social issues such as youth, unemployment and skills training. With the incorporation of these elements, our environmental restoration projects are becoming more important and relevant to the general community.

Gympie and District Landcare has been awarded the privilege of hosting the 2003 Qld State Landcare and Catchment Management Conference and Awards. This 4-day event provides the ideal public forum for environmental practitioners, primary producers, business interests and other community stakeholders to debate and explore potential solutions to the most challenging environmental issues facing Australia today. The conference theme ‘Breaking New Ground' explores the state of the environment and the interplay between modern day environmental issues, its economic consequences and social implications. The event is expected to attract between 300 and 400 delegates from around the State and beyond.
